Letters: King of the moaners!

Dear Parrots magazine,

King of the moaners!

Having read recently about Stephen White from King’s Lynn, Norfolk being threatened with court action after neighbours complained that Buddy, his African Grey, was too noisy and kept whistling Old MacDonald’s Farm, over and over again, it reminded me of my own neighbours when I used to keep Australian Parakeets in aviaries in my back garden.

Letters: 2 AGs just didn’t work

Dear Parrots magazine,

2 AGs just didn’t work

I was interested to read about Jutka’s two African Greys living happily together, and with her, as companion parrots in the October 2013 issue (189).

Letters: Sparrow hawk spooking cockatiels

Dear Parrots magazine,

Sparrow hawk spooking cockatiels

On several occasions recently, first thing in the morning, I have been woken by the sound of my cockatiels flying around their aviary in a complete frenzy.  When I spoke to my neighbour about it he told me that a sparrow hawk had been visiting his bird table and had been catching sparrows and carrying them off.  My cockatiels can see the bird table from the flight and this was obviously what was upsetting them.

Letters: Bird rescue in Belize

Dear Parrots magazine,

Bird rescue in Belize

I just wanted to write and say how much I enjoyed Nikki Buxton’s article on running a bird rescue in Belize.

Letters: Think Parrots 2014

Dear Parrots magazine,

Think Parrots 2014

Six friends and myself are all looking forward to coming to Parrots magazine’s THINK PARROTS show on Sunday 22 June.  Two of us flew in from Switzerland last year and really enjoyed the talks and meeting many of the parrot experts, including EB Cravens, Rosemary Low and David Woolcock.

Letters: Great escapee advice!

Dear Parrots magazine,

Great escapee advice!

I was gutted when my African Grey flew out of the back door last week, during one of my children’s birthday parties.  It was an awful time for this to happen as I was in charge of 10 young children at the time!  But I had read Kirsten Badham’s article in the April 2014 (issue 195) on tips to get back an escapee parrot and this helped enormously!
