Letters: We’re off to Costa Rica!

Dear Parrots magazine,

We’re off to Costa Rica!

I just wanted to let you know that my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the series of articles you ran on parrot watching trips in Central and South America and the Caribbean in the March, April and May 2012’s issues of the magazine.

Letters: My Red-bellies, quite different!

Dear Parrots magazine,

My Red-bellies, quite different!

I have never bred these birds but did have some youngsters years ago, but my experience with this poicephalus species was quite different from those described by Linda Au in the October 2012’s issue of Parrots.

Letters: Pine nut warning

Dear Parrots magazine,

Pine nut warning

The experiences of one parrot owner demonstrate just how important it is to crack open a few nuts when obtaining a new batch of shelled nuts or a new bag of parrot food containing nuts, to examine their condition.

Letters: Calling a parrot back

Dear Parrots magazine,

Calling a parrot back

I just wanted to write and say how much I enjoyed Michael Simmons’ article on: Calling a Parrot Back.

Letters: Ringnecks in a colony

Dear Parrots magazine,

Ringnecks in a colony

I was given one of your magazines (issue 171) and asked to read Muriel Barnes’ reply to breeding Ringnecks in the Parrot Queries page. She suggested breeding pairs should be housed separately, one pair to a flight.

Letters: Baked apple recipe

Dear Parrots magazine,

Baked apple recipe

I found this recipe the other day and my parrots: two Umbrella Cockatoos, one Sulphur-crested Cockatoo, a Mealy Amazon, a Blue-fronted Amazon and a Dusky Conure all loved it so I thought I would share it with other Parrots magazine readers!
