Letters: Cosmo’s amazing ability

Dear Parrots magazine,

Cosmo’s amazing ability

Thank you so much for keeping us informed on the progress of Spix’s Macaws, I have just enjoyed reading the last instalment in issue July 2013 (186). I love hearing about the successful breeding attempts with these rare birds and look forward to their eventual release back into the wild in Brazil.

Letters: Good alternative to Teflon

Dear Parrots magazine,

Good alternative to Teflon

I have found a really good alternative to Teflon-coated cookware. I bought a ceramic Ceracraft frying pan – red with a white lining - at our local Homebase for about £30 and it’s fantastic! It cooks well, it is very non-stick and above all, being Teflon-free, it’s parrot safe!

I just wanted to inform readers of Parrots magazine that I will be coming to Europe in November 2014 and will be running two bird and small mammal training seminars in The Netherlands and Dublin and two parrot training and behaviour seminars in Germany and the UK. If you are interested in learning more about “Force Free Animal Training,” I would love to see you! As more arrangements are made and become available, so the details will be posted on the internet links below.

Letters: Meyer’s preferring smaller box

Dear Parrots magazine,

Meyer’s preferring smaller box

In reply to the letter in the Parrot Queries page, in the June 2013 issue (185) “Meyer’s harder to breed,” I purchased my pair of Meyer’s over a year ago. They came with a small nest-box measuring 32cm x 19cm sq (13in x 7.5in sq) and I was told they were a proven pair. On doing some research on these parrots, this box seemed too small, so I built one measuring 48cm x 30cm sq (19in x 12in sq) and hung it up. For a year and a half they took no notice of it at all.

Letters: A wonderful day at THINK PARROTS 2013

Dear Parrots magazine,

A wonderful day at THINK PARROTS 2013

After weeks of waiting and preparing, the day of Think Parrots finally arrived. As I had no idea what to expect I was quite excited. I got up at 03:30 hrs to get ready and at 04:15 hrs the taxi arrived to pick me up for the one and a half hour drive to Schiphol Airport (Amsterdam).

Letters: Macaw mutation mystery continues

Dear Parrots magazine,

Macaw mutation mystery continues

I saw the recent article and pictures about the Blue & Gold Macaw mutations in the April 2013 (issue 183) which reminded me of a painting I did some years ago.
