ABV hits indoor flock

Dear Parrots magazine,

ABV hits indoor flock

I was very sad to read of Karen Chudley’s horrific encounter with the ABV virus and the loss of her much loved birds.  I enjoy reading Karen’s articles and she obviously cares very much about her birds.

Almost inspired to buy more

Dear Parrots magazine,

Almost inspired to buy more

I've been getting Parrots magazine for a little while now and it's delightful reading reader's stories.  One comes to mind, “A day in the life of Team Conure,” by Karen Chudley.  What a hoot!

ARA Project update

Dear Parrots magazine,

ARA Project update

I followed the release of the Buffon’s Macaws in Parrots magazine last year and enjoyed reading about their antics once released in the wild.  It was therefore a joy to read in the June 2014 (197) issue that all the macaws are continuing to do well and the ARA Project has now completed its fourth release of these very handsome birds.

Caiques are amazing!

Dear Parrots magazine,

Caiques are amazing!

I have had my little Black-headed Caique, Eric, for nearly a year now and he is a delight!  Many of the things he does is just as Sally Blanchard described in her “Personality profile on Caiques,” which I thoroughly enjoyed reading.

Bring it on Laura!

Dear Parrots magazine,

Bring it on Laura!

I just wanted to say that I think Laura Hirst is a real asset to the magazine.  I very much enjoy her articles, which are refreshing and thought provoking.

From an abused cockatoo’s viewpoint

Dear Parrots magazine,

From an abused cockatoo’s viewpoint

I want to start by writing how truly devastated I was to learn the other day that scientists from the Indonesian Parrot Project are now speculating that the average lifespan for a Moluccan Cockatoo in captivity is now as short as 10 years.
