Letters: Be responsible

Dear Parrots magazine,

Be responsible

I tend to look up the ‘Lost and Found’ information on the Parrots website and find it so sad and unnecessary that during summer months the number of escaped birds rises significantly.

Letters: Can you move it?

Dear Parrots magazine,

Can you move it?

Following the recent letter entitled ‘How About Up Here?’, can I add my endorsement to the plea for the Think Parrots Show to be located in a more geographically central position?

Letters: How about up here?

Dear Parrots magazine,

How about up here?

I have been following the success of Think Parrots Shows, but unfortunately living just outside Newcastle it is a long way for me to go, as I live on my own and would find travelling difficult.

Letters: Ruppell’s and Rescue

Dear Parrots magazine,

Ruppell’s and Rescue

My question is to ask if you could do a specific breed study/article on Ruppell’s. Please, I would love to learn anything else I can about them. I rescued one, which I think is a male. It has taken me almost two years to gain his trust, humans had not been very nice to him in the past, so it was a slow process. I also rescued a Green-cheeked Conure, which are much more common. She had plucked her feathers, and was also terrified of people. They are both doing very well now and I have taken them out of their cages to play every day, and even take them outside on sunny days. It is amazing how attached one becomes to these feathered creatures!

Letters: Hard to convert

Dear Parrots magazine,

Hard to convert

Much has been said about pelleted diets and as I have been feeding my birds on seeds and fresh fruits for many years now, I thought I would try, but despite perseverance over several weeks, my Orange-wing and my Blue-fronted Amazons will eat a small amount, but prefer their seeds and other foods.

Letters: All Pals Now

Dear Parrots magazine,

All Pals Now

I have read many articles about adding a second or third bird and how they would get on with the original ones that we already have. Well, I have two African Greys and a large flight in a utility room, and they have lots of freedom and light, and a good environment.
