Letters: Hand-reared parrots not for breeding

Dear Parrots magazine,

Hand-reared parrots not for breeding

I am writing in support of the letter written by Roz Paterson, “Other options for loud Amazon,” in the February 2013 issue (181). I could not have said it better myself.

Letters: Alternatives to giving Amazon mate…

Dear Parrots magazine,

Alternatives to giving Amazon mate…

I wanted to write in and say what a wonderful asset Parrots magazine has been in my life. It is one of my favourite parrot publications and I find it very informative.

Letters: In honour of Spike

Dear Parrots magazine,

In honour of Spike

I am writing this letter in honour of Spike, a very precious parrotlet, and as a warning to others to check the toys and their fixings in their parrots’ cages daily. I have always taken every possible precaution to keep my birds safe, but losing Spike just goes to show, however careful we are, something can still go wrong...

Letters: Daily walk halts feather-plucking

Dear Parrots magazine,

Daily walk halts feather-plucking

Thank you for your latest parrot news pages in the January issue. Anything about feather-plucking gets my attention as my parrot has the same habit. This issue had many helpful stories. I was glad to read, "Daily walk halts feather-plucking." When the weather was warmer I took my parrot for walks around the block and enjoyed it.

Letters: Top expert writings appreciated!

Dear Parrots magazine,

Top expert writings appreciated!

I should like to say just how much I have enjoyed the recent articles by David Woolcock and Michael Simmons. For several years now I have taken the advice of Rosemary Low to "Go West for Parrots," (as in the title of her book about her travels in the Caribbean and, Central and South America), although in my case it has been to visit zoological collections in the West Country. Parrot lovers in the counties of Cornwall, Devon and Somerset are fortunate indeed to have so many excellent collections at their disposal.

Letters: Lost their freedom forever

Dear Parrots magazine,

Lost their freedom forever

It was marvellous to read Mr Steven’s kind comments about the articles and Paradise Park, thank you very much indeed. In response to the comment about my use of the phrase, “the smuggled birds have lost their freedom forever” with reference to the article about Red-tailed Black Cockatoos I would like to comment:
