Dear Parrots magazine,
The Greys
I read Rosemary Low’s article in the last issue with deep sadness as how the Grey parrots still appear to be suffering at the hands of these appalling poachers and traffickers. I have two African Greys and one Timneh and they are a major part of our family, they really rule us and we just love it.
It is all too easy to forget the plight of many parrot species as we interact with our companions while happy and safe in our homes. But it is so sad to think while we enjoy their company, there are large numbers still suffering at the hands of unscrupulous individuals when they endure what must be a traumatic and suffering journey being caught up and imprisoned in conditions we would be horrified at. I just hope the CITES I classification will now help to stop this unacceptable trade.
