Feather plucking and in companion parrots has been a problem that has frustrated owners for years. But when the underlying problems are understood, there may well be some hope to deal with this frustrating problem, and even curing it!

Rosemary Low recalls a time when she came face-to-face with a Fuertes’ Parrot (Hapalopsittaca fuertesi) a very rare psittacine whose habitat is high up in the mountains. This parrot, also known as the Indigo-winged Parrot, seems to be in the world of its own providing it with little human contact.
