Currently, the Loro Parque Fundación‘s (LPF) breeding station at La Vera is in high season, with 100s of young parrots growing in the nest with their parents, or are being cared for by our specialist keepers in the hand-rearing station.

Parrot thefts are generally less frequent during the warmer months of summer when there is far greater daylight into the late evenings and people are out and about in their gardens. Thieves much prefer the darker windy nights during the winter months to carry out their crimes, especially to help drown the noise of birds being stolen. In fact for the last four weeks, we have not received any reports of such activity. This being said, we must remain vigilant and be aware that potential burglars will visit and ‘recce’ the area prior to breaking in.
