Scarlet Macaw returns to Mexico
The first flock of Scarlet Macaws has just been released into the rainforest of Aluxes Ecopark, near to the World Heritage Site, Palenque National Park, as part of an ongoing massive reintroduction project. The wish is to restore the culturally significant bird to the well preserved rainforests of Palenque and the rest of its southern Mexico homeland, where it has been extinct for nearly 70 years.
