Although the Green-winged Macaw (Ara chloroptera) population, in its natural habitat, has suffered a marked decline in recent years, due to deforestation and illegal capture for the pet trade, and has disappeared altogether in parts of Panama, Argentina, Bolivia and Brazil, it is the most widespread of the large macaws in the wild, and is listed by IUCN as ‘least concern.’
