“Perhaps We Need Our Parrots Now More than Ever”

It is certainly a crazy time for the world right now, that is for sure. A harsh disease humans caught from animals appears to be running rampant around the globe. Whole societies are on edge, stressed, angry, combative at the least. I sit at my desk and read the news sometimes, then shake my head in wonder at the goings on in the U.S. and abroad that seem to make no rational sense whatsoever.

And then Tula Rose, our standard poodle comes over and leans against my leg for a petting session. She knows none of the turmoil. Her daily life is still defined by smells, and toys, and snuggles. I look into her canine eyes and realize none of the chaos on television or the Internet matters a whit to her.

It’s the same with our pet parrots that are totally oblivious. That’s one of the reasons that our interacting with them grounds us so well – Sigh!
