This PFC grouping refers to the group of toxic chemicals that includes PFOA (perfluorooctanoic acid), PFOS (perfluorooctane sulfonate) and other perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances grouped together and labelled PFAS. Many scientists use the acronyms PFCs and PFASs interchangeably, while the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency, US) is moving towards using PFASs to collectively describe PFOA, PFOS and other chemicals in this group.
