Does refined sugar cause hormonal imbalances in parrots?

Last month we discussed the problematic nature of refined sugar being added to nearly all processed foods that we eat.  Hopefully many of you viewed Dr Lustig’s YouTube video, “Sugar: The Bitter Truth”.  But these foods have not always been adulterated with sugar.  In 1982 when the US FDA (Food and Drug Administration) decreed that all processed foods must reduce the amount of fats they contained, to make the food palatable, the industry replaced fats with increased amounts of sugar.  The damaging effects to our health from this one action have been felt around the world, not only in the US.
