A week without Wingnut – in the shadow of Aspergillosis

The initial signs that our beloved Wingnut was off-colour were subtle.  I offered him one of his favourite foot toys, a miniature sneaker shoe, bright red - a colour he finds hard to resist.  He held it in his foot briefly, gave it a desultory nibble, dropped it and stared into space.  I put on the jazz CD that he likes to sing along to and encouraged him to join me in a dance, he offered an absent-minded “woo,” but continued to sit like a miniature grey statue on his perch.
