Living in Belize and running a bird rescue

The story of the birth of every rescue centre is different, but they all seem to share a common thread:  rarely is it the fulfilment of a lifelong-dream or the result of some carefully structured master-plan.  Belize Bird Rescue was no different. “Grew like Topsy” is a phrase my grandmother was fond of using, and it fits BBR perfectly.

The master-plan Jerry and I were carefully following was to escape the British weather by finding ourselves a warm, friendly country to begin our retirement strategy.  Belize was the perfect choice and we fell on our feet in securing a beautiful piece of land in the Cayo District of the country.
